Rainy Monday

Hey everyone! I just got back from lunch at my favorite Mexican restaurant. Pollo Loco is my favorite and I get it every single time I go there! Little man is at school and the little one I keep during the week isn't here today. It's good to have a day to myself...I feel rejuvenated for now at least! While I was out I also had to take back the clothes we bought little man over the weekend. They were all one size too big! We realized that on the first trip there were two things that weren't paid for. After I exchanged a couple of things for different items I still came out with .74! I'm still not sure how that happened.
The weekend was pretty great! Shawn was home and we really enjoyed quality time with him. Little man's plans were 1) park 2) McDonald's Playplace 3) new orange ball shoes! Unfortunately we weren't able to find any orange shoes but we managed to talk him into getting red Nike's instead. I told him they make him run faster, so I think they will do! We had a big home cooked lunch on Sunday before Shawn left. He had another trip to Knoxville MEPS and is still there now. He should be home sometime tonight.

I'm going to enjoy the rest of my day and hopefully you will too! If you are lucky it's not raining as much as it is at my house. Have a great week!

Cookies!

It's that time of year again. I always look forward to the little girls next door selling their Girl Scout cookies! My order arrived a couple of days ago. If you haven't already, get out and support the Girl Scouts and enjoy!

Some of our favorites!

Not sure on a title.

I try not to title every post, "Ramblings" but it's hard because that's pretty much what this is. I'll be honest I can't think of these really great things to write about simply because my life isn't that interesting! I wish.
Hubby had a trip to MEPS again last night after the start of district basketball games. He was at games tonight along with ASVAB testing. I'd say by the end of the week he will be worn out! His weekend will probably consist of sitting in the recliner and watching movies! I don't blame him though.
The little man and I have church tomorrow night and parent teacher conference on Thursday night. I'm excited to see what his teachers have to say. He really loves school. This week he is mad at his best friend for being mean. I'm sure by next week they will be friends again. You gotta love 3 and 4 yr olds! I do need to get a few things at Wal-Mart this weekend. Little man needs new Spring/Summer clothes as well. This small town living is great but I absolutely hate having to go 45 minutes to the nearest mall. Ahh, and they don't even have the stores I love. If they could just add The Children's Place, Old Navy, Gymboree, and Baby Gap, I'd be happy! Oh well, they can't please everyone. Hopefully the weather will be nice here! Have a great week people.

19 February 2011

It's Saturday!

I am soooo happy that the weekend is finally here! That wonderful husband of mine has RSP drill all weekend though. He won't be home until Sunday evening sometime. This morning I was thinking and realized that I'm not as afraid to be home alone as I once was. It terrified me in the beginning to be home with a little one. I'm one of those people that always thinks about the worst thing that could happen! I have great neighbors and we have a ton of guns if I ever needed one. I always sleep with my cell phone beside me just in case. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that I have two of the world's worst barking dogs. They would definitely scare someone away or at least wake me up! Hopefully nothing ever happens though.
I'm thinking that little man and I will get up and go to church in the morning. I'd like to start going regularly. As for today we are just going to relax, watch movies, and probably go outside!
I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Going crazy!

The little one I babysit didn't come today so I got to sleep in a few extra minutes. You would think without the added stress of another child I would be sane. Nope not this momma! For some reason I got in a crazy rush trying to get little man ready for school. I told him he had to hurry and get out of the bath and get dressed because the bus would be here. After all this rushing we are sitting there waiting for the bus to come and I realize something is off. The bus comes around 11:15 and it was only 10:15. I can only laugh at myself in this situation. I guess having the extra little one around helps keep me on schedule after all! My poor little man got tired of waiting and said, "bus take too long", guess that would be my fault!

15 February 2011

Really?

I'm laying in bed for about 10 minutes when I realize I better get back up. If I don't get this out of my head I will think about it all night. Hubby is staying out of town again tonight since he had to drive his applicant down to MEPS. I feel bad for him. He was so sure this one would pass the ASVAB, and he should have. It blows my mind when someone can do excellent in college and not be able to pass the test to join the military. Hopefully he will get it next time though.

Love Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I hope you all enjoy it, single or in a relationship. Just enjoy the time with your loved ones. My little man was so excited when he woke up this morning. He said the bus was taking "too long", I guess he couldn't wait to give and receive valentines. I'm sure he is having a blast! Hubby and I don't really have any plans for tonight. He had to get up this morning and take his mom to have surgery on her wrist. Hopefully it's going well. Hubby decided to give me my gifts on Saturday morning for some reason. I got a lovely card, a Hershey's scented candle(yum), and 4 new charms for my Chamilia bracelet! I love that man.
We enjoyed the sunshine this weekend. We desperately needed it. I got to go visit with my grandpa in the hospital, that was much needed. One day he's doing better and the next he's not. I'm just glad I got to spend time with him. Little man and his daddy went to Chuck E Cheese while I stayed at the hospital. Every time the commercial comes on he reminds me that he wants to go. He really loves that place! That night we decided to stay in a hotel since little man also lovesss those. He jumps on the bed, swims, and we eat a little bit of junk food! What kid wouldn't love that? On our way home the next morning Ethan was car sick once again. My poor baby threw up all over himself. He does this all the time when we go on our little "road trips" so any suggestions would we great! We ended the day by washing the car, grilling out, and watching a movie! It was a pretty great weekend with my boys.
Now it's Monday!

Short!

Just a little update. I promise not to ramble on and on! Little man didn't have school again today. I swear he will be going all summer. I guess he will be at school on his birthday since it is at the end of May. Oh well, I'm sure he will enjoy it with his friends. Hopefully they can make it back to school for their Valentine exchange on Monday. He picked out Spongebob with lollipops.
The weather at my house. The biggest flakes ever!

Every Thursday the kids wear the color(s) that they are studying. I always make sure that my child participates. This week is pink and purple. Hmm...what about the boys? I know he can wear a pink ribbon or something but we don't have any of those. He could wear a pink button down shirt that is so "in style" right now, but this kid isn't into that. I'm sure we will come up with something.
I am also very proud of my hubby. He has a school coming up and needs to get into shape fast. He started P90X last night. He always gets on these kicks of healthy eating and exercise but they only last about a week. He seems serious this time because he knows he will get the promotion. I hope he can find the time to accomplish this!

Drained

I think the title of this post is perfect for how I'm feeling. It's been a very long day and I have absolutely no energy! I thought about not even posting but decided I should. Little man had another snow day so that means two boys in the house today!!! The school sent out the text for no school at 4:23 this morning. Seriously? Thankfully it didn't wake me this time. Back to what I was saying. I've had two wild kids on my hands today, one of which is potty training. Pee pants, climbing on furniture, and being mean to each other doesn't make for a very good day.
Most days I handle it okay. Not today. My grandpa was put into the hospital on Sunday so I'm stressed out over that. He is pretty much like a dad to me and it kills me to see him in his battle for life. He has lived longer than they expected he would with the type of lung cancer he has. My mom is having an even tougher time dealing with it and that breaks my heart! We are lucky he has made it this long and I think God for that. He has spent most of the time sick though. We all know he is so tired. Is it selfish to want him to hang on? I can't imagine life without him but I know he is close to the end. I try to imagine if I were in his shoes. I just don't know... This is the time when our family should come together and put the petty drama aside. I'm 23 and I understand that but for some reason adults much older than me haven't grasped this yet. Ugh it makes me so sick I want to scream! My grandfather is in his hospital bed and all she can think about is herself. I honestly think when she wakes up in the morning she wonders how she can screw someone over. Sorry I'm ranting but I just don't know how anyone can be this way. I guess I don't have that evil bone in my body, but I couldn't do these cruel things.

Me and one of the greatest men I know. My grandpa.
Enough with that. Tonight is ASVAB night. Hopefully hubby has lots of smart testers! It's harder to pass the test to enlist these days and qualified applicants are hard to find. This puts stress on the hubby so I don't like that part of the job. I'm not sure how many testers he has tonight but he is very lucky if he gets 1 or 2 that pass. Cross your fingers and I'll cross mine!

Thought I'd share...

this funny picture of little man. He just had to dip his barbeque chicken in A-1 sauce! I gave him a little strawberry soda with his dinner and he told me, "Drink coke, teeth fall out!" I tell him that because I don't want him to get cavities. He finally listened to something I had to say!

Another dinner without daddy but we saved him some food anyways! I'm sure he will enjoy it if he ever makes it home from work!

Back at it!

So, the weekend has come to an end. It didn't last long enough for me but I guess it never does! I spent all day yesterday cleaning the house. We had people coming over to look at the house to see if they were interested. Hopefully things will work out. I feel bad for hubby it seems like all he does is drive, drive, drive. It would definitely make it a lot easier on him!
We're not Super Bowl people so we didn't watch that. Thanks to facebook I did see Christina Aguilera mess up on the National Anthem. Bless her heart! I know that has to suck! Just like Janet Jackson's Superbowl mishap, this will be remembered for years to come. I typed in Christi...didn't have to finish, and Christina Aguilera Super Bowl popped up! Oh my.

Little Moments

Today started off great. Me and little man slept in and didn't get out of the bed until 10:20, I believe. That's very rare in this house. We are usually up at the crack of dawn. We spent some much needed mommy-little man time! It was awesome to say the least. Talking and doing dot-to-dot on my phone. It's the little moments in life that make me realize how lucky I am. Lucky to be this sweet little boy's mommy! I wouldn't trade this wild and crazy 3 yr old for anything. I must add that he has speech delay though. He has come a long way since starting preschool and I am so happy for him. He has speech therapy once a week at school but I'm not sure that's what helped. Just being around his friends he has gained so many words, that before he could not say. I have noticed that his "blue" becomes "boo", "spoon" becomes "poon", and "tree" becomes "ti". Also "car" becomes "tar", "go" becomes "do", and "can" becomes "tan". I'm going to have to speak to his speech therapist about this but it sounds like a phonological disorder. I'm no doctor but I feel like I care more than his speech therapist does. I know they have had way too many snow days and it's hard to work with him in his classroom, but it has to get better. We are also in the process of trying to find a new home. My husband would like to be closer to work since he drives 45 minutes to get there now. My hope is that we can get in a school system that has worked with children like my little man. The days are frustrating for both of us when he can't get across what he's trying to say. I understand him better than ANYONE! There are still times when I can't. I would just love it if he could talk to his friends and say the things I know he wants to say. He is such a smart little boy. Now I'm rambling!

Me and little man worked on this project for him to take back to school on Monday.
I thought he done a great job with his name!
On another note hubby is on his way home. His schools ended up not going to the competition so he didn't have to stay! Makes my day a little better knowing he will be here earlier than he would have been.

04 February 2011

Finally Friday!

Today always seems to be neverending. It's probably because I can't wait for it to be over. My little man doesn't have preschool and I also have the little one I babysit. Let's just say it gets a little chaotic! Around 5:45 this evening my weekend begins! It's time to relax and spend time with my favorite boys. Shawn has been made to take leave on Fridays because he had sooo much built up! Instead of being home on those days he is usually still at work! Today he had to meet people at the armory and then head to Ft. Knox. He needs new boots and uniforms. I don't mind because he's needed these for a while now. I wish I could say he is off tomorrow but nope! He has to be at a JROTC competition they have tomorrow. He wouldn't be able to make it in time so he has to stay all night tonight. Hopefully we will get to see him Saturday night! I guess we will wait and see.

You know what they say..."Recruiter's wife -toughest job in the military!"

Day 1

I wasn't quite sure on the title, but it will do! I'm new at the blogging thing so you'll have to forgive me.
It's past supper time. I made potato soup and the only thing missing is that husband of mine! He left early yesterday for an all day meeting and had a trip to Knoxville MEPS last night. He ended up not getting there until 11:30 so decided to stay at a hotel. He's on his way home now. Hopefully he will be home the rest of the week! We miss him when he's gone. I shouldn't complain though, it's a lot better than it used to be! Not as many nights away and trips to Knoxville, TN. I really hope he got this applicant in, he would be so happy! Happy Shawn makes for a happy Ashley.
